What I Ought To Have Done On Eid Al- Adha

I don’t think it’s too late for me to wish all the Muslims a happy happy Eid Al- Adha! May all of our sacrifices be accepted and blessed by the All Mighty!

I had some encounter with a really racist Pengerusi Masjid in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. He thought I was from “somewhere” else and wanted to stop me from leading the Takbir at the Mosque. I just went ahead and led the Takbir anyway.

I was thinking to myself, "Pigidah, kecoh nak control saper boleh baca Takbir tapi diri sendiri tak baca!"

After the whole process was over, I went to him and told him that I am a Malaysian. He said he was mistaken and would not allow other races to lead the Takbir. I said:
“Itu isu perkauman dan merupakan satu jenayah!”

And then I left…

Come to think of it, I should have just said that I am an officer from Putrajaya (no need to tell him from which department) and that I will see that his action deserves the appropriate attention from the relevant authorities. That would have at the very least disturbed his breakfast for that day.

Well, sometimes, at the spur of the moment, we usually miss out the best opportunity… we would then realize it a little bit too late… Thank God my omission brings no further damaging consequences… I just missed the opportunity to teach someone a valuable lesson.
